Hello World

¡Bienvenidos! To my little corner of the interweb. You are witnessing the live birth of my newest child and it's getting messy, it's getting real, and it's getting raw, but I hope you find a safe space here to feel, to heal, and to just be. At times, things may get uncomfortable and there may be conversations you don't like or may not be ready for; I encourage you to pause, to reflect, to stay curious, and to stay for a while.

Alright, I'm going for it.

For days, this introduction has been plaguing my thoughts. For days, I've been overthinking this.

How should I start?

What can I say to paint the most clear picture of who I am so that others can get to KNOW me?

Qué pensará la gente de mí? De mi familia? Qué pensará mi familia de mí?
What will people think of me? Of my family? What will my family think of me?

Silly me, I forgot that getting to know me is the whole point and will take time!

It's not going to happen all in my first post, or overnight. This is going to be a slow burn.

So buckle up, and don't panic if we hit some curbs along the way.

Oh and let's get one thing straight and two things clear, I curse like my father and I swear like my mother.

So FUCK IT.

Now that we got that out of the way, lets get into it.

"It" being the world of Amy.

Not Amy as in, my mother's daughter. Not Amy as in, my father's daughter, or my brother's sister, or my grandmother's granddaughter.

Not Amy as in la tía, o la que se alejó de la familia.

Amy as in, your friend, Tu Amiga Amy.

This is the space where I allow myself to be seen, where I allow people into my personal thoughts, opinions, lessons and life experiences.

This is the space where I allow myself to take up space.

Space to be vulnerable, to be authentic, to share from a place of connection, and to welcome those who understand, support, accept and who don't judge or try to change others.

I saw a video today talking about how trying to micromanage how others perceive us is imprisoning us in our own minds, and it really got me thinking.

It continued on to talk about how the only way to truly be free is to ruin our "reputation", to let go of the idea of who others expect (or need) us to be, and to live our truth rather than staying in character.

I'LL BE DAMNED.

All my life, I've felt as though I didn't have a voice.

Actually, I knew I had a voice, but I felt that my voice had been silenced and I didn't know how to break free from the chains my words found themselves in.

The chains that kept me small.

The chains that told me I couldn't take up space.

The chains that told me that who I am is wrong.

Well this is me breaking free from those chains.

This is my story. This is my voice. These are my words.

This is me rewiring my brain, deconstructing thoughts that are not mine, breaking free from patterns that were taught to me, and leaving behind generational cycles that were handed down to me.

This is me asking myself, do I believe this because it resonates with me? Or do I believe this, because this is what I was told I should believe?

This is me having uncomfortable conversations with myself and sitting with uncomfortable realizations.

This is me constantly checking in with myself to make sure things still feel in alignment, and when they don't, pivoting back to a place where they feel like they are in alignment with who I am, who I want to be, and who I'm becoming.

I commit to telling my truth, to learning, and to listening with the intention of continuing to get to know myself.

I commit to getting to know myself with the intention of getting to know others because when I allow myself space to feel, heal, and be, I am able to allow others the same space to feel, to heal, and just be.

So come as you are,

and accept me as I am,

and as I'm becoming.

Talk soon.

Take care.
